***
Lee Ann Westover was born in Houston, TX, but the stars in her eyes brought her to New York City as soon as she was able. Once landed in the Big Apple, Lee Ann quickly made a name for herself as a gifted performer and composer. She has spent the last decade performing all over the US with several projects, including the all female trio the Lascivious Biddies – founded in 2001. With the Biddies, Lee Ann’s star has continued to rise, through the release of their recordings and media appearances on CBS Saturday Morning, FUSE TV, Time Out New York, the Daily News and many others.
A prolific songwriter, Lee Ann Westover's work has been featured in films screened all over the world, including the Sundance, Venice and Tribeca Film festivals. “Famous,” from the Lascivious Biddies' album “Get Lucky,” was honored in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition. In the early 2000's, she created a segment for the modern pop musical revue 8x10, which debuted at the famed New York Theatre Workshop (“Rent,” “Bright Lights Big City”) alongside work by Norah Jones and Jesse Harris. In 2009, she released an eponymous EP under her own label.
In recent years, Lee Ann has dedicated herself to musical outreach work through the Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall’s Musical Connections Program. Each season, you can find her and the Biddies performing in prisons, hospitals and homeless shelters, as well as facilitating songwriting workshops for underserved populations throughout the 5 boroughs. In addition to the work she and the Biddies do with Musical Connections, you can also hear them performing their high-energy, interactive original music for children through CarnegieKids.
Lee Ann has also taken her passion for music to the page, contributing regular reviews and feature articles to several New York outlets, includingBrooklynBased.net, The Villager and The Downtown Express. On her blog, SheSewFly.com, Lee Ann offers up an itinerant musician's perspective on everything from pop culture to roadside attractions and food and wine. -
